Your Hotel(s)

New House Country Hotel

The Grade 2 listed New House is a serene and romantic country pile, originally built by a wealthy Welsh industrialist, Thomas Lewis in the 1730s. New House is a country hotel located in the stunning Thornhill, just outside of Cardiff.
We love its extraordinary natural brightness, all year round, whatever the weather. The picture windows perfectly frame the secluded rural idyll and sweeping views out beyond the Cardiff cityscape across the sea to Devon. It quietly takes your breath away.

Your Course(s)

Radyr

A must play on any Wales golf break to Cardiff. Radyr Golf Course has been described as “One of Colt’s Little Jewels.” Of course, this refers to the course architect responsible for Radyr’s challenging parkland course. The Legendary Mr Harry S Colt.

Radyr has one of the most idyllic settings of any golf club in South Wales. With its magnificent views overlooking the City of Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. Nestling in rural parkland, its gentle undulations provide golfers with a course which is a delight to the eye. Yet which offers the sternest of tests to golfers of all standards.

Whitchurch

Whitchurch Golf Course would be included in most golfers itineraries on a Wales golf break to Cardiff. Founded in 1914 and situated just north of Cardiff City centre the course boasts panoramic views of Cardiff and Bristol Channel.

This parkland course has hosted top amateur and professional events over the years including the Welsh Professional Championships on 3 occasions and the Welsh Ladies Open.

It has developed into a fine Parkland course which is rightly noted for its testing Par 3 and Par 4 holes. The amateur course record is 63, with the Professional record held by Ian Woosnam with 62.

Some very fine golf holes throughout with some strong par 4’s including 5th and 18th. A fair course with only a few blind shots that is nicely presented and can be enjoyed by low and mid range handicappers.

Cottrell Park (Mackintosh Course)

Cottrell Park Golf Resort offers two fantastic golf courses that are designed using the natural landscape to create some memorable holes and an enjoyable round. The layout offers fantastic views across the surrounding country landscape making this a real golfers’ paradise, there’s even two high-tech golf simulators and a 10-bay driving range in which to sharpen up before the real test on the course. Characterised by its beautiful views out over the Vale of Glamorgan, the Mackintosh Golf Course is a traditional parkland course bestowed with elegance and charm. Measuring in at 6,356-yards off the white tees, this championship track plays in the style of a top, mature parkland course and uses the natural rolling landscape to create a wonderful round of golf.
