Old Course

ST. PIERRE, CHEPSTOW

Course Description

For any Wales resort golf break the Old Course is of international repute. The venue has hosted many top golfing events including the 1996 Solheim Cup and The Dunlop Masters. It also boasts six past Ryder Cup Captains as champions.

Ken Cotton designed the original Old Course in 1961. European Golf Design architect Ross McMurray extensively remodeled it in 2008 with new tee complexes, reconstructed bunkers and a testing dogleg par 5 on the 7th hole.

The signature hole is the 18th, requiring a precision shot 235 yards across the lake’s edge to a raised green. A quality course in its own right.

Not an easy course! However, Mr Arwyn Griffiths may disagree, needing a par 3 for a superb gross 63, the ordeal proved too much and he slumped to an 11 on the last hole!
